The National Technical Committee for Standardization of Daily-Use Glass

The third session's second meeting took place with grandeur in Shanghai from April 15 to 16, 2024.

Present were Zhao Wanbang, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the China Daily-Use Glass Association and Chair of the TC377 Committee; Ye Jiayi, Executive Deputy Director of the National Quality Inspection and Testing Center for Eyeglass Glass and Enamel Products and Secretary-General of TC377; Professor Wang Lianjun, Director of the Ministry of Education's Engineering Research Center for Advanced Glass Manufacturing Technology at Donghua University and Vice Chair of TC377; Chen Renhua, Chief Engineer of the Technical Center of Guangdong Huaxing Glass Co., Ltd. and Vice Chair of TC377; Zhang Da, Deputy General Manager of Anhui Deli Daily-Use Glass Co., Ltd. and Vice Chair of TC377; Pan Hua, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Daily-Use Glass Association and Deputy Secretary-General of TC377; Pan Sheng Feng from De Varo Packaging, alongside 46 other committee members, delegates, and experts from around the country, participated in the meeting, which was presided over by Secretary-General Ye Jiayi.

Zhao Wanbang, Chair of TC377, opened the meeting with a welcoming address. In his speech, he informed the attending members and experts about the daily-use glass industry's economic operations in 2023, including production data for glass bottles and containers and import-export statistics. He highlighted the growing number of opportunities and challenges within the industry, the increasing depth and breadth of environmental policy constraints, and the higher demands placed on standardization by the pursuit of high-quality development. Moving forward, the committee will prioritize the following actions:

1. Conduct a comprehensive review of the current industry standards to enhance industry concentration and overall level.

2. Boost the development of foundational and methodological standards to maximize their guiding impact on the industry.

3. Pay attention to environmental and dual-carbon policies to drive energy-saving, carbon reduction, and green transformation in the industry.
   

Secretary-General Ye Jiayi presented the "TC377 Committee's Annual Work Report for 2023" to the members and delegates. The report was divided into six sections: revisions of standards, other standardization efforts, sub-committee development, international standardization activities, financials, and key tasks for the upcoming stage. After discussions, the annual report for 2023 was endorsed by the attendees.

As per the agenda, the members and experts thoroughly discussed revisions to two national standards, GB/T6552—XXXX "Glass Containers Mechanical Impact Test Method" and GB/T8452—XXXX "Glass Bottles Vertical Axis Deviation Test Method," and offered constructive amendments to the draft texts.

At the meeting's conclusion, Secretary-General Ye Jiayi summarized the proceedings, expressing gratitude to all participants for their active and spirited discussions. He also expressed hope for continued robust support for the standardization efforts in the daily-use glass sector and laid out the upcoming plans for the committee's standardization activities.
