Understanding the Decal Process:
A decal, sometimes referred to as a "transfer," is a substrate, such as paper or ceramic, bearing a printed pattern or image that can be transferred to another surface upon contact, often with heat or water. The term "decal" originates from the French word "décalcomanie" and gained popularity during the late 19th-century decal craze.
Decals come in various materials, including plastic, paper, or vinyl, and can be applied to surfaces such as plastics, wood, metals, glass, painted products, leather, fabrics, and rubber. While all decals are stickers, not all stickers are decals. A decal, essentially a decorative sticker, consists of three layers: back paper, the decal itself, and front paper.
Choosing the Right Printing Method for Glass Bottles:
Size of Printing:
Full surface printing provides a matte, shiny, or custom rainbow look, covering the entire glass bottle.
Frosting also offers a full surface appearance.
Number of Colors:
Silk screen printing supports one or two colors separated in different locations on the glass bottle.
Decal printing accommodates multiple color printing, making it suitable for metallic effects like gold or silver.
Location:
Silk screen printing suits round glass bottles.
Decal printing supports square, triangular, or cone-shaped bottles.
Price:
Silk printing is more economical than decal printing.
The Decal Printing Process:
Design and Decal Paper:
Design your artwork, ensuring it communicates effectively with your target audience.
Choose a clear and prominent brand name, readable font, and attractive images.
Decal paper can be silver or gold foiled for metallic effects.

Dipping in Water:
Water-slide or water-dip decals use adhesive that dissolves upon contact with water.
The decal can be repositioned when wet, and a squeegee is used to apply it permanently.
Application on Glass Bottle:
Stick the upper decal paper onto the glass bottle surface by hand.
Allow the bottle to sit in a dry and cool room for 24 hours.
Peeling and Furnace Process:
Peel off the upper form on the glass bottle surface.
Ensure the surface is clear and tidy.
Place the glass bottle in the furnace and bake at a suitable temperature for a specified duration.
