Outstanding packaging designers always excel in 'recycling' and bringing forth innovations.
On Thailand's Sriracha Island, limited rice production due to environmental factors has made locals highly value their grain storage methods, especially the packaging for rice. They aim to completely eliminate the pollution associated with traditional packaging.
In response, designers created packaging from natural waste chaffs, a byproduct of rice husking. This packaging pays homage to the difficulty of grain production in the region. The boxes are molded from natural waste chaffs, featuring a prominent, oversized rice grain relief as the primary artistic element.
The textured patterns symbolize expansive rice fields with lively rice stalk reliefs as design embellishments.

5. Pasta Intelligent Compartments
Designer Alesia Lurtcevich has created an innovative solution for a common pasta problem—how to serve spaghetti without uneven distribution or waste at gatherings. She devised special packaging with six intelligent compartments within a regular rectangular box. At the top of the box, there are six trapezoidal spaces, each holding an equal portion of spaghetti. This smart design is ideal for parties with four or more guests, ensuring minimal waste.
Each of the six compartments features perforations, with three on the front and three on the back. By carefully tearing along one of these perforated lines, you can access the spaghetti inside. Now, you can easily retrieve the desired amount of pasta for cooking, without any concerns about waste. This intelligent packaging by Alesia Lurtcevich is a game-changer for pasta lovers.
